Choose, generate, and use your results

Choose 1, 3, 5, or 10 results and select Generate animals. With No repeats this round enabled, the starting result and later draws are excluded; a nearly exhausted pool returns only the remaining entries.

Reset round starts over. Save results on this device, copy their names, share an individual animal, or open its profile for available facts, sources and photo credit.

Bird references for observation and research

This tool selects entries classified as Bird in the catalog. It is useful for finding an unfamiliar subject for a sketch, a classroom observation or a research question. It does not identify a bird from an uploaded photograph or predict birds you will see nearby.

Start with what the photograph actually shows: outline, visible bill, feet, feathers and pose. Use the profile sources for claims about diet, range or behavior. A single image is a reference for that view, not evidence of every feature or life stage of the bird.

Make an observation-or-inference card

1. Draw one bird

Generate one result and keep the photograph open. Write its recorded name at the top of a sheet.

2. Write two kinds of notes

Under I can see, list three visible details. Under I wonder, write two questions that the photograph cannot answer.

3. Resolve one question

Open the profile and follow a relevant source. Add the answer and its source link, or state that the sources checked did not answer it.

Random Bird Generator questions

Can this picker show only birds from my country?

There is no country selector on this bird tool. Use the result as a starting point and check the range information and its sources; the draw is not a local bird checklist.

Can I request only flying birds or only flightless birds?

The bird generator does not currently offer a flight-ability filter. It draws from the Bird group, so inspect the chosen profiles when your activity requires a more specific set.

Can I use a generated bird as a drawing reference?

Yes. Choose a photograph with a clear pose for your exercise, then keep its profile and image-credit links. Check the linked license before sharing the photograph or an adaptation.
